PALM DESERT GREENS DEMOCRATS

MINUTES OF GENERAL MEMERSHIP MEETING

MARCH 26, 2010

The meeting was called to order by club president Charlie Ara at 9:45 AM, followed by the flag salute and singing of “Happy Days Are Here Again” in honor of the passage of health care reform.

Secretary/Treasurer Sharon Miller reported a bank balance of $1,909.47. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as posted on the PDG Dems website.

Announcements:

Wine and Cheese: The 2010 PDG Dems Wine and Cheese party is scheduled for Sun., Oct. 24.

Voter Registration: Our voter efforts at Westfield Mall have been postponed until September or October.

Charity Golf Tournament: Our PDG Democrats sign for the PDG charity tournament supporting the Stroke Recovery Center was proudly posted at the 15th tee.

Absentee Ballots: It is important to return them, especially for the state senate race.

PROGRAM:

Celebration of Healthcare Reform: Mimosa toast in memory of Ted Kennedy, and in praise of Obama, Pelosi, Reed, Kucinich, and all the PDG Dems who made this success possible. Members expressed their feelings about this historic event as they introduced themselves.

Shame on Mary Bono Mack. Shelley from Steve Pougnet’s campaign announced that the Red to Blue organization has chosen to support turning our congressional district Democratic. 60% of the money Pougnet has raised so far has come from Republicans fed up with Bono Mack. This could be the Republicans’ Waterloo. Club members are invited to attend a function for Pougnet in Palm Springs on March 31, 5:30-7:30. The club will reimburse PDG Dems attendees for 1/2 of their admission fee, up to $50 total.

NEXT MEETING: FRIDAY, APRIL 9 AT 9:30 AM, REC CENTER.
