Meeting Minutes
January 9, 2009
Opening:
The regular meeting of the Palm Desert Greens Democrats was called to order at 9:30 by Charlie Ara.

A. Flag Salute
Pledge was led by Charlie Ara

B. Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as read by Christi Towner.
C. Open Issues
Welcome new Member Ricci Brodie.
Continue to inspire us that we can work together to solve daunting problems!!
Opportunity for “Trade Industrial” Classes for students.
Proposal to write a letter to President Barrack Obama on Cuba By Charlie Ara, who read the letter. A motion was made and seconded to send the letter.
The Reasurer’s report is available on the table. The balance is approximately $1400.00. Amotion was made and seconded to approve the treasurers report.
“Change for Change” jar is on the table and Membership dues forms available on the table also.
Membership Cards were presented by Charlie to the Founding Members of PDG Dems.
A Poem was read by Charlie, Henry, Sonja and Clark.
D. Introduction of Betty Mc Millon Chair of Riverside Central Committee by Charlie Ara
Betty spoke on the importance of fielding local candidates for non-partisan office. Betty is in charge of chartering new clubs. She will attend the inauguration in WA. D.C.
The goal of the Central committee is to turn Riverside county blue for 2010and to raise $250,000 by 2009
- Improve infrastructure
- Recruit and train candidates
- Continue voter registration tables
- Fundraising for candidates, help with staff and pay filing fees
A sign up sheet was passed out for a copy or e-mail of the Central Committee Agenda
Clubs are encouraged to send representative to the Central Committee meeting on the 2nd Monday of the month
Dr. Irene asked about the funds spent in the election.
Betty answered that: Billboards, 6 offices @ $3,000 each and Manny Perez all received funding.
Clark McCartney spoke on the Election meeting this weekend for the 64AD.
E mentioned that there was no Democratic candidate in the 64th this last election, and that 25% of the voter registration of the 64th is in the desert, but that there is usually no delegate elected from our area.
There was some discussion of the future candidates for Governor.
